Kimberly states that Bowdoin Bound has had a very positive impact on her life, so it was natural to pay it forward.

Kimberly Jones portrays a very important aspect of Bowdoin Bound. She has been a participant of Bowdoin Bound since the summer before her 5th grade year of school. This summer, in 2015, Kimberly decided to pay her time at Bowdoin Bound forward and volunteer as a counselor in the program. Kimberly states that Bowdoin Bound has had a very positive impact on her life, so it was natural to pay it forward. Kimberly was first encouraged to apply for Bowdoin Bound as a result of her outstanding grades. She explains that she is very pleased she applied to Bowdoin Bound because she has had access to many different resources. Through the direction of Mr. Spears, she has had free one on one tutoring. Bowdoin Bound has also helped Kimberly throughout her college process. As a result of her efforts, she will be attending Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, in the fall.

Kimberly has very powerful advice to any children who are thinking about applying to the program. Kimberly explains that the people one meets through Bowdoin Bound are very important through the college process. Kimberly says, “take advantage of everything, stay in touch and build relationships. The connections really do help.” After chatting with Kimberly, one thing is certain: Kimberly is heading to amazing places with the helping hand of Bowdoin Bound.
